I Remember a Work of Art
A Young boy struck
By an old man Hammered, Nailed
To some gallery wall, framed,
mixing and paling in time's palette,
breathing in the air of the choking deep
but not giving up, a sunken beacon,
He floats from depth to surface!
When the shards of the present Form
the gallery of the past:
Stemming from a mirrored glance of my own bloodshot eyes,
a doctor, Dead-alive, dimly lets the defiant light flood his eyes!
His sickly green skin lines the darkened
catacombs of my deepest derma.
And when I awoke to feel his painted
permanence dabbed upon my face,
When the hammer nailed to the mirrored wall,
my eyes in rosy disgrace;
Truly blissful sleep was hung,
as a dream upon awake,
And death will have to beg to pry,
my canvas from the nail of life.
The end.
As far as I can tell you, this poem was inspired by the mere fact that I remembered something from childhood because I usually don't. When I was a kid, I must have seen this painting of a sick doctor at the AGO. The fact that I was able to remember the painting and the artist's name surprised me so much that I wrote this poem as a possible explanation as to why this painting was special enough to be remembered.

So now you are in a band. I look forward to seeing you perform. I have only heard rumours that you played piano. Now there are pictures to prove it!

Looks like you've become quite active. I'm used to you simply taking it all in. Not anymore apparently. See you around.
